a black and white wedding

Today is a gray gloomy-ish day in Omaha. Thunder is rumbling off in the distance–it sounds like boulders rolling down a cliff! If I wasn’t living in one of the flattest parts of the country, I’d be wondering. I really like this weather. I think the walls of my studio look so beautiful in this light–almost aglow.
This is one of my favorite projects right now–a black and white wedding.
You’re looking at 75 loose button flower stems and many many fun hours of work.
This bride is ordering all of her flowers loose–not arranged by me. She’s already under contract with another florist, so she’s going to bring them all of my flower stems to mix in with her bouquet. I think this is a really creative idea and I can’t wait to see the final product.
I also have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! today to my nephew, Alex. He is five years old going on sixteen. He also starts preschool this year, so I got him a bunch of “school supplies”–mostly just fun art stuff. I also want to make him some kind of costume–I’m torn between whether to make him a cape attatched to a zip-up hoodie, or just a regular tie-around-the-neck cape. Maybe both.
This is a picture he drew for me last time I visited him…the REAL masterpiece is one that I can’t find anywhere. It’s a drawing of a giant turkey with a human foot crushing a school building. Also very deserving of a frame.
