off the wall

Thank you everyone for all of the blog comments, kind emails, and BUSINESS in the last few days! I like my job, but I really LOVE my job when I get to communicate and connect with readers and customers like you.
This CMYK wedding is definitely one of my favorites that I’ve ever worked on. All of the colors are like from a fantasy, or a comic book. Sorry to, like, constantly post about it. It just brings me tons of joy. I sort of dont want to mail them off to their real mommy.
Maybe after they grow up and leave home, and I get some extra time, I’ll make some for me to keep. My list of “things I will make for myself when I have extra time” has been growing for the last year. I have a big stack of blank canvases stacked against the wall…jewelry making supplies in one of my drawers…lots of fabric in my closet…one of these days!
Especially for my beloved German readers, look at this book I picked up.
This book is all about East German fashion, and I found an article from Deutsche Welle that explains more about the context:
“Everyone looked the same, so if you wanted something special you had to make it yourself,” explained Antje Lond Benn, who studied at the Technical College for Clothing Design in East Berlin in the 1980s. “Fabrics and patterns were really cheap, and everyone would improvize with them. And if you were lucky, you could fit into the kids’ clothes, which were heavily subsidized.”
I love seeing photos of East Germans not looking impoverished or depressed, and using creativity and improvisation to design clothing. GDR culture is my favorite little facet of the entire rich and diverse history of Germany.
If you could witness any event from the 20th century, what would it be?
