S is for Spring

We got spoiled last week with some really nice weather (in the 60s!) and then we had a blizzard on Friday. We had drifts in our yard of over two feet, and our speech tournament was cancelled. (Also I had the flu during the nice weather so I didn’t really get to be outside to enjoy it. :( ) There isn’t any more warm weather forecasted in the near future, and it feels like Winter has been so long.

It always feels like it’s been cold and grey and wintery forever by the time February rolls around. So I’m right on schedule this year.

S is also for socks. A fun pair of socks is the perfect gift. For Christmas maybe ten years ago, my mom gave me a huge basket full of socks that she had pre-mismatched for me, repackaging the pink with the blue, the green with the purple, the ruffle with the polka dot, and rolling them all up into delicious little swirls. For the rest of Winter I had a cheerful, fun sock wardrobe that always picked up my mood.

Hansel from Basel, a hoisery company in Los Angeles, gives me the same feeling in a more sophisticated and stylish way. Here are some of my favorite designs from their recent collections.

Cable Knit Pom Pom Tights

Metallic Tights in black/gold or purple/silver

Spats Knee-Highs

Military-inspired Marionette Booties

Luxurious wool and cashmere Kneepad Knee-Highs

Treat yourself to some fun hoisery and bring out a cheerful skirt to wear with one of your winter cardigans. It will bring some sunshine to these last few weeks of Winter and maybe put some spring in your step.
