chicago and the country living women entrepreneurs conference

This weekend is the 2009 Country Living Women Entrepreneurs conference in Chicago and I’m so excited to be attending this year! The event is for women who “bank on their bliss” (I love it) and Country Living brings in experts and successful businesswomen in creative industries to speak to attendees about turning their dreams into viable businesses. Some of the workshops include topics like publicity and marketing, selling your product to retail buyers, as well as a chance to pitch your product to Country Living.

The key lunch speaker will be Rosanna Bowles, and I started jumping up and down and said lots of expletives and totally lost it when I found that out because I ONLY have her dishes. I think she is totally brilliant and I admire her work so much! (I wonder if she will sign one for me? Oh my god I would lose my mind.)

I have never seen anything more creative or beautiful than these dishes. Why can’t we all have beautifully mismatched dishes? Why isn’t that okay? Why didn’t anyone think of that before?

These dishes are the only thing I collect, and the inspiration of mixing and matching a new place setting each and every day is never ending.

Rosanna is one of my personal business idols, right up there with Martha Stewart and Mary Engelbreit. There is no way I could miss the chance to see her speak about her experiences.

So yeah I booked this conference and then I realized that our first anniversary was the next day. So I silently booked one more ticket.

We’re going to have a busy weekend in Chicago–the pilgrimage to Mecca IKEA which seems to be a required rite of passage for all newlyweds, the Country Living Women Entrepreneurs conference, a Fischerspooner concert at the Metro, and our first wedding anniversary on Sunday! And of course our usual haunts, the Chicago Diner (where we got engaged) and Veggie Bite for some sweet vegan cuisine.
