I know that you are going to fall sooo in love with Beckie and Kyle’s wedding…they are eloping in France and are just two super interesting and fun people that I would love to be friends with.
The details of their ceremony are best shared in Beckie’s own words…
We chose France for a few reasons. A: I really wanted to elope–we are both not traditional so the typical wedding wouldn’t suit us; and we needed to save on cash so a destination wedding/honeymoon was just the ticket. And B: We really dig history and especially castles so originally Kyle had me looking into Scotland and England because he wanted to be limited to where they speak English. C. In my castle search I found Carcassonne (a game that we have, if you havent played it – i saw you play Settlers of Catan so you might also have Carcassonne in your repertoire;) That sold Kyle hook, line, and sinker.
I have an associate’s degree in French and although I am not confident in my listening/speaking skills (reading is way easier) I really wanted to try them out. I had visited Peru on a field school and I didn’t know any Spanish beyond the typical hey-how-you-doin stuff, and came back a month later with lots of pride on how much I learned. With a background already in French, I cant wait to see how my skills develop!
We picked the Abbaye de Fontfroide because it seemed so private and I am totally into ancient history so I was really looking for some ruins to have the wedding at. But I stumbled upon that and fell in love. Its out in the middle of nowhere and has its own history and is so gorgeous. It reminds us of one of our favorite games (DragonQuest 8). We are dorks. In reality, Kyle and I have been together for 10 years already coming up in February, and living together for the last 3 so it just didn’t seem appropriate to have a “real” wedding and this idea really sounded awesome. Plus, once we finally decided on doing it and keeping it a secret, oh my gosh its been fun! Ive dropped so many hints along the way but no one has figured it out (they all know about you because I just had to tell the world;) Its been a little stressful because the area where the Abbaye is doesn’t have as much tourism so the language thing is a bear via internet. It stresses me out that I may sound rude or have a miscommunication. But things are coming along:)
Beckie and Kyle are also having their dress and suit made by Joi Mahon, the designer who made my wedding dress.

[...] My flowers were made by one of the two people who knew our secret plans. Ruthy knew I totally adore Megan at Princess Lasertron, so she studied her work and made me a very special bouquet. I ordered a wrist corsage and boutonnière from Megan, before my bouquet with Ruthy was secure. (My corsage is so cute on my bedroom doorknob!:) I asked Megan to make Boys a little different, with felt leaves rather than the floral leaves – and she put two cute little hearts on the back! You can see both here. [...]
