this week in pictures

This week I finished three full bridal orders…I have no idea how. Here is my favorite bouquet that I put together, and it ended up being TOTALLY WRONG for the customer–wrong colors, wrong feel, wrong style–and it’s my fault because I didn’t listen very well. This is my first major messup but I’m making it right! I’m not sure what to do with the bouquet now…maybe keep it and see if I can resell it later, or scrap it for parts.

As you have heard me say about ten billion times now, Where Women Create came out and it’s available in bookstores and craft stores everywhere. I was so over the moon to be included in this quarterly issue, but when I saw that my name was going to be on the cover, I about lost it!

It’s available next to “Top Doctors,” naturally.

Here is a baby bump picture.  I don’t really have much to show yet, and my due date went from April 20th to May 4th and back to April 20th (I think?) so I’m not sure if I’m 14 or 16 weeks now. It doesn’t make a difference to me–here I am pregnant at 14 or 16 weeks. I get to go see the baby in another week when they do some tests, so hopefully they can nail down the gestational age then!

Last time I went in, the baby was wiggling all over the place. My mom can’t stop laughing and pointing at me because she thinks the kid is going to be a total handful wigglebox. Which is what I “deserve.” Thanks mom! I mean GRANDMA.

We are still getting moved in to our new place. It is all painted now and full of boxes–FULL. I am too busy with work to unpack…I don’t see business slowing down until four days in April. Hopefully then I will have time to unpack some things. We are so grateful to my family and our friends Justin and Andrew for helping us paint and move!

Every year, Dave and I go to Omaha’s Goth Ball, which is just a complete spectacle. You see everything there–and if I went into any more detail I would get more e-mails from people complaining that their work is blocking my website because of bad words like “sex” and “drugs.” Just practicing for mother of the year!

This is the first year that the Goth Ball featured live music, which totally and completely ruined it. In past years there have been fashion and hair shows, carnivalesque performance acts, and live djs packing the dance floor, but this year it was just horrible screaming loud NOISE coming from the stage and flooding the whole room. No one danced. The true goth music–music I genuinely like–of past years was gone, and it was replaced with local death metal bands. Local death metal bands. There is nothing more offensive and talentless than local death metal bands. Most of our friends decided not to come, and we gave it a chance, but if there are live bands next year I’m skipping it.

Dave didn’t dress up as anything in particular–he just really wanted to wear a velvet cloak and a mask. I wore the same dress that I wore last year because it was the only thing that fit me. We did run into a lot of friends and people we know, so that made it a little more fun. The whole event was held in the same place we got married.

Hi metal singer Pitt Rippley. Thanks for ruining everything.

Next year for Halloween we are taking LaWeez and going to my parents’ house where I grew up. They had SO MANY trick-or-treaters and we only had four!

My parents gave out little bags of chips. My folks are so clever–what a treat for the kids. They have the best ideas–last year for Halloween, they put Christmas lights all over their house, played Christmas music through the outside speakers, answered the door in matching Christmas sweaters and told all the kids “Merry Christmas!” They are hilarious.

With work, I didn’t have time to put together a costume this year, but I was going to be a pageant toddler with a gigantic trophy and a “grand supreme” sash…it would have been funny.

What did you dress up as?

That wrong bouquet would have fit my wedding perfectly. Love it. Love your paint color choice for the living room. Can’t wait to watch for more pics on how you finish it. I never had a chance to really customize it to my colors, we only lived there for 2 1/2 years. I want to check out your article in Where Women Create. That looks like a cool magazine. Hope you are enjoying the new house, and getting settled in.

Thanks for taking off the bad words. I was so sad and mad when I couldn’t look at your blog everyday at work. Your blog is a little ray of sunshine everyday!

I dressed up as Dwight Schrute from The Office. But the glasses I wore weren’t quite right, so people thought I was Harry Potter…in a business suit.

    Love the bouquet!

I was a vampire in a white 1960s dress with matching cape (my mom had made it for her prom). My husband was a transvestite zombie princess;) But i wanted to share a great quote with you:

If you have never made a mistake, then you have never made anything at all.

It happens, but you owned it and thats awesome:)
