my goals for 2010

Posted on 03. Jan, 2010 by in inspiration, personal

Last year I resolved to look my best every time I left the house, and I did a good job with that one.

Next year I am keeping that resolution and adding three:
1. Stop saying so many negative things
2. Waste less
3. Ask my friends to teach me something they are good at

These other things would be nice to do too. I think this is more like a New Year’s To-Do List than a list of resolutions:
1. Learn how to swing a golf club (can you teach me?)
2. Host a mimosa brunch on my porch
3. Finish my book proposal
4. Leave Alice and Dave at home and go on a long weekend trip
5. Try a new creative technique like bookmaking or letterpress
6. Make ten how-to videos
7. Have a yard sale
8. Host a birthday party
9. Make Dave lots of fun and adventurous lunches for work

I would love to learn how to letterpress. Let me know if you find a good place to learn here in Omaha! Since I finished my master’s degree last year and I am now drowning in student loans, I’ve had to put off more school for a while. I have been trying to keep up learning new things and reading as much as I can on my own. Good luck with your list!

If you’re trying to be more positive, use positive language :) Case in point, consider changing “Stop saying so many negative things” to “Say more positive things.” That way you’re thinking positive, not negative. So “waste less” will become “reuse/recycle more.” – Get it?
Also, for a little bit of optimism, check this out: http://thesecret.tv/optimists-creed/

I also made a New Year To Do List – and I used a big piece of paper so there was plenty of room to add more as the year progresses :)

I’d love to dress better, but my only problem is that I don’t know what I look good in and I’m too shy to ask! I’ve been trying to be more forward with the sales people, asking for their opinions and the like. I’m so tired of t-shirts and jeans. I don’t feel good when I wear them.

If I was closer to Omaha, I could help teach you letterpress. But, I don’t think they’d let me bring my printing press on the plane. And it’s awfully heavy!

I love “look my best every time I left the house.” Stealing it! Yesterday I looked in the mirror at the department store and scared myself!

haha! it wasn’t too hard to keep. I feel like my self-worth really increased because of it too, and people treated me a little better.

We still need to have our driving range date! As soon as the weather improves (and you’re feeling up to it pre/post having Alice!) we will go swing my pink golf clubs!

I can totally help with the golf swing one. And if I can’t, I know my dad can — he taught me.

Two of my goals for 2010 are to attend 3 different conventions as a vendor and to dye part of my hair pink again. I miss the pink

Hey Megan, here’s something you can add to Dave’s lunch. I can image what awesomeness would come from it:) http://bit.ly/7xEiLk

Also, if I’m ever in the hood, I can teach you and Dave how to tap dance!

I’d love to learn to letterpress. There’s a kit at ACMoore that I’m tempted to get, but I have a feeling I’d want to further customize instead of going with stock options.

Enjoy your new year, Megan…lots of wonderful and beautiful things coming your way…Alice being the top of that list.

Okay, totally stealing your idea and making a to-do list, not a bunch of resolutions! haha! If stuff on the list doesn’t get done, I’ll blame it on the hubby. Or something.
