video tutorial: valentine’s day folder craft project and a GIVEAWAY!

Posted on 17. Jan, 2010 by in craft, giveaway, videos

Hey babes and dudes! Ready for a Valentine’s Day project and giveaway?

I made a video tutorial showing how to make an easy folder to store all of your valentines in! There are lots of variations on the basic project I will show you which I outline in the video. I think these folders will make great gifts for your friends, or you can sit down with your kids and make a bunch of little ones for their classmates! Plus there is a bonus appearance from my dog, Scout.

If you like this project, leave a comment and give me some feedback, and if you want to try it out, I have re-written the list of materials you need below. So many of us have these materials around the house already and it’s such a fun easy project!

Materials Needed:
…three 10×6” pieces of decorative paper or cardstock (two-sided is best)
…five 10×3” pieces of decorative paper (one-sided is fine)
…Zip Dry paper glue from Beacon Adhesives (you can get this at most craft stores)
…your own favorite embellishments and decorative elements (I used Japanese masking tapes, butcher’s twine, and markers for most of mine)
…a hole punch and some twine OR a sewing machine (to bind the folder)

I put together a sweet little package of everything you need to make the Valentine’s Day folder, including a brand new bottle Zip Dry. I really do love this glue and it’s all I’ve been using for paper for about four years.

I’m also going to throw in a few extra special fun destash-y surprises for the winner.

To win, leave a comment below and tell me something I wanna hear. I’ll let the random number generator pick a winner this Friday. This is open to international readers, so go for it!

The Princess has her own style-Martha would be jealous of Meg’s button bouquets. I work for Beacon-the makers of the Zip Dry adhesive used in this project. It truly is wrinkle free, and mistake proof. We also make the Fabri Tac Glue that Princess Lasertron uses in her button bouquets. We are thankful that she uses our products-she’s gonna be the next big thing and we can say we knew her when…

How fun! My cousin is getting married and I think I’m going to make her one of these folders to store her wedding cards! Oh, and just a small correction, on your video you say you need three 10 x 6″ pieces of decorative paper, but in your written directions you accidently wrote 10 x 16″. Just thought I’d let you know so you can change it!

I love modge podge, but would love to try zip dry! Now for something you want to hear….well there are two things that were a MUST HAVE on my wedding list: a photo booth and your flowers! My dress and cake and even my location came further down the list! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Hi Meghan! I just wanted to say “Thank You” for taking the time to do this. I have a daycare in my home for autistic and special children of low-income families and this is going to be great for me to do with them for Valentines Day and it won’t cost me a thing as I already have everything needed for this project. I’m also going to let them view your video once we have the babies asleep for their naps. I wanted you to know that you have had a hand in shaping these wonderful little people into loving creative little beings! You are truly such a giving soul! :)

    Have a great day!

i used to give my (now) husband handmade cards for xmas and valentine’s every year. He re-found a bunch of them when we were tidying out house and i’d completetly forgotten about them. I’d love to start the tradtition up again. He really did love my rubbish handmade cards. so much so he kept them all from the last 7 odd years!

Creative! I have never heard of zip dry. I’m not proud to admit that I’ve used some choice phrases when gluing paper together. It never sticks. But I’m looking forward to WINNING and trying out some zip dry glue!
BTW: are you going to do any ‘baby product’ projects?
