pictures and video from the omaha fashion week spring preview show

One beautifully photo-heavy post coming right up!

These aren’t that great because my mom and I took them ourselves, and I am eager to see the promotional pictures taken by the Omaha Fashion Week people of the runway. So these are all from backstage.

I kind of can’t believe it’s over because for the last month I haven’t thought about anything except working on this runway show. Because of the time crunch to prepare garments for the event, I decided that making an unforgettable visual impact needed to be our top priority.

So, I created Candyland Bridesmaids!

I love them all together because I think they look like an adorably gorgeous army of Best Friends who will fight for justice and beat you down with a felt bouquet.

We could have gone the route of walking five to ten different garments and using the opportunity to showcase technical talent and creative range. We could have shown original pieces from the Spring 2011 line meant to debut at the September show. But with 10 other designers showing and over 400 people in attendance, I decided to do something visually memorable since I felt a lot of detail would be lost.

So we did five of the same awesome skirt and top look with some variations in the finishing to whet your appetite for things to come!

I was backstage throughout most of the show, but a few people came up to me when I was out in the crowd and told me that they heard about the show from my website here and they were excited to see my clothes. I want you to know that that really made my day.

I also wanted to thank my models. They did an awesome job communicating the entire aesthetic of the collection, and really what Princess Lasertron is all about. Eleanor, Sarah G., Jenny, Karen, and Sarah T., thank you for taking so much time out of the last few weeks to really bring these garments to life. When I saw the looks on all of the models together, instead of just a dress form, I couldn’t get the smile off my face! You each belong on top of a cupcake!

More pictures here in my Omaha Fashion Week Flickr set.

Finally, here is a video of my portion of the runway show that my dad took with my Flip! He had a great seat and you can really hear how crowded it was. What a rush!

I am loving this life.

i was at the show and yes, you DEFINITELY made an impact! it was nice to see such joyful pieces in the show (runway shows can sometimes take themselves a little too seriously)
and i must say, using the same font on the sashes that you do on the website was brilliant, and of course i loved the flowers.
i can’t WAIT to see the full collection!

I love them! I of course would pick pink, because pink is the best color ever created :)
I was so excited to see what you came up with, especially after the teaser post. And, like always, you have impressed me. I love that you are able to transfer various elements of your brand into different mediums – be it felt bouquets, ruffle bracelets, valentine’s day gifts, or bridesmaid dresses.
I am so excited to see what you unveil in September.

Love the vintage feel but the modern edge of these cute outfits. It also made me think of last week’s Project Runway with Emilio’s fabric and his chatter about branding plus how the judges loved it. AND…when my Mom got married in the 60′s, her bridesmaids each wore a different color similiar to these…it made my heart skip a beat.
