starting some flowers and pictures from today

Posted on 23. Apr, 2010 by in CAMP, home

I’m still waiting on that darn overseas shipment to finish all the orders I have on my desk right now. Stupid volcano!

I started the day by visiting CAMP, my new studio and coworking space, with my friend Eric Downs who will be working there with me. The buildout process is starting this week and I wanted to get another look at the unfinished space and visualize the styling for the furniture and decor. I’m still torn on what to do with the floor. What would you do? Maybe just give it a good polish? Leave it raw?

I also started some flower seeds that were given to me by my friend Emily who works at the bank. Planting them in little peat cups just made my day and I hope some of them germinate so I can transplant them in my front yard!

So lots of manual labor and work–cleaning, yard work, and going for walks. I’ve been having hard but irregular contractions all day, and right now we’re in a tornado watch. So cross your fingers that I have this kid in my basement next to the cat litter.

And thanks to my sweet husband for the waffles.

http://www.zorthianranch.com/main.htm: this is a ranch near my home that is very dear to me. It embodies all that I know and love about art and artist and what I wish there was more of in the world. Zorthian was a collector of people. He has this property tucked away in the hills and in a large co-op of artist. My favorite is this trailer with a 15×20 stretch of fake grass lined by a white picked fence. This is something i thought you would appreciate as much as I do.

Are those floors concrete? There’s special concrete paint you can get that just rolls down like you’d paint a wall. We do it to basement floors around here all the time.

i would leave those floors bare. if you are breaking up the floor space into different areas/sectioning it off, a rug could work as an accent piece, not to hide the floor :)

I’d leave the floors bare to give your tenants more flexibility in case they’re messy like screen-printers & less obligation for maintaining your flooring. You can always dress up your personal space with rugs or carpet remnants to make a soft place for Alice to crawl around.

Another option you might consider is that epoxy stuff they make for garage floors. It’s basically a 4 part process that leaves the finished floor less porous, a uniform color & really easy to clean. You can find some info about that at garagefloorcoating.com

Thinking of you in these last days ’till your baby arrives. Such a strange, unforgettable, magical time.

    I’d polish the floors.
Breathe, breathe, breathe! I’ll be sending peaceful vibes for the uneventful (?) arrival of Princessa Alice.

The flights from over here are pretty much back to normal now, so your shipment shouldn’t be too much longer! :)
I think the floor would look great just polished :)

I think leaving them raw would be really cool.

I think the floors would look fine plain (especially if budget is a concern) but polished or acid tinted would be better. I am excited to see the progress on CAMP

    Those waffles look fantastic.

Call my sister if you go into labor by the kitty litter – she lives pretty close to you :)
