today’s outfit and last-minute things to do

Posted on 21. Apr, 2010 by in baby, outfit

This outfit is actually from last Saturday. I wanted to share it anyway because the red coat is my newest wardrobe addition and the bright color makes me SO happy. I also love the lining and that it has a hood.

The dress is from Express and I have had it for a few years. I love tunic dresses and as I’m late in my pregnancy I am appreciating them more and more.

My mom hates these boots. I think they are amazingly cool. Versatile and comfortable, and not too tight!

My panicky “my house is too messy” phase is over for a while, and now I’m in a panicky “there’s still so much I want to do alone while I still can!” phase. Today I plan to go out around the city, do all of my favorite fun things, take some good photos, and really hold onto those memories. Here are a few ideas.

Lunch at my favorite restaurant / Working out of a coffee shop / Look for furniture for the new coworking space / Sit down at the bookstore with a huge stack of magazines / Brainstorm ideas for birth announcements with my graphic design friends / Take my time browsing the clearance racks at TJ Maxx / Spray paint a boring knick-knack in my house / Get a pedicure!! I keep telling myself they are a waste of money but at this point I don’t care / Change my sheets / Arrange some fresh flowers

There are things to do for Alice, and things to do for me…I’ll address the former ones some other time.

I have those boots in gray and I love them, but always feel self conscious wearing them b/c of the haters.

And I looooove Don and Millies! (re: other post:))

I also love those boots! I don’t know if they still have it up at TOMS, but when they first released those boots, they had a video about how they were inspired by the leg wraps used on show horses. I always thought that was interesting and a little funny!

I used to work the morning shift in this really cool neighborhood coffee shop and my favorite part was seeing all of the working-from-home/coffee-shop-mothers everyday.

They all had young children and really creative jobs (children’s book writer) but my favorite character was a woman named Laurel who worked through her entire preganancy out of the shop, making do with decaf coffee and caffiene free teas. When she had her baby, I swear it was not two weeks and she was back at it, working away with a sleeping newborn at her side.

We all marveled at the baby’s calm disposition in the middle of the frenzy of morning java drinkers, but she always said it was better for the him to be out in the world adjusting, rather than trying to create an unrealistic perfect world at home. And I think she was right!

You and Alice are going to be an incredible team!

I think it’s great you are taking time for yourself! I feel like sometimes it’s so hard for women to remember to do that and it’s important! Way to go!
