today’s outfit and week 35
Posted on 06. Apr, 2010 by Princess Lasertron in baby, outfit

Feeling:
…a detachment from reality, a sense that “this isn’t me.”
…a lot of back pain.
…every little movement, all day long.
…still pretty small for how far along I am.
…very well-educated and confident about our birth plan.
…often nauseous. I threw up the other day in front of a hot motorcyclist. COOL!
…zero motivation to nest or clean.

Eating:
…lots of saltines and peanut butter.
…paneer pakora and naan.
…clementines.
…toaster waffles.
…lime popsicles.
…bottled water (weirdest craving).
…sauteed tofu.

Wondering:
…what color Alice’s hair will be. I think red. I will be most surprised if it’s brown.
…if that was a contraction. (Cramps and back pain? Probably.)
…what to wear for labor and delivery.
…how soon I will be able to work after delivery.
…what her favorite toy will be to bring everywhere.

Hoping:
…for an uncomplicated labor and natural birth.
…that Mr. Lasertron will clean the house for my birthday present. (And mother’s day present–they’re the same day this year!)
…for Alice to come into the world with as little stress for her as possible.
Missing:
…being free to travel by airplane.
…Maker’s Mark and Coke.
…wearing my cute dresses.
…laying on my stomach.

Visualizing:
…Alice riding her tricycle down the long concrete-floored hallway at CAMP, pigtails blowing behind her.
…picking her up from grandma’s house, full from cookies and homemade waffles.
…watching her smile when she sees her dad.
…listening to her talk to herself in her crib.

oh megan….this is so sweet…and exciting!
i just love everything about a baby.
i will tell you one thing about labor.
i was induced with my first so with my second i thought i was in labor and went to the hospital but it was braxton and they sent me home. a week later i had a REAL contraction. and that was when i knew we were doing this for real. it was so different than all the ones i had the whole last month. the REAL contractions will feel stronger than anything you’ve ever felt. then you are in labor. and baby alice will be there soon!!!
it will be good!
worth it.
and it can’t last longer than a day….that is the light at the end of the tunnel.
GO MEGAN!!!

Almost every night when the TV is on.. we mute it and all four of us (husband, me and 2 teenagers) listen to “our” baby Mandy talk to herself in her crib…she is almost 2 and it is so cute to listen to her.. right now it’s mostly about her baby dolls going poop.. “baby poopoo?” Talk about cheap entertainment! LOL..
Again…love your outfit! I just got Mandy a Liberty of London raspberry summer dress.. I can’t wait to put it on her.

I love these kind of posts!! So thoughtful!
I love toaster waffles – kashi ones – with natural skippy PB!
You’re almost there – just a couple more weeks!! I think you should shoot for May 1 – that way Alice gets amazing May Day baskets each year (and we’ll be birthday buddies).

You’re in the home stretch! And the question should be when will you WANT to work again after Alice is born. Baby toes are very distracting…=)

don’t let those yahoos at the hospital make you wear that frumpy hospital gown. despite what they say, you don’t really need to put it on.
trust me, i’m almost a supernurse.

At least for me, that disassociated feeling didn’t really go away until about 12 weeks after Tavi was born. Being pregnant and then postpartum felt so alien and foreign. It’s really only been in the last month that I’m like OH THERE I AM YAY! The way I said it right after he was born was, “Motherhood feels great, but I don’t recognize myself in the mirror.”
And the bottled water thing: could be a very mild form of Pica? http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/unusualcravingspica.html

I’ll mention it to my doctor! I wonder if it’s something to do with the minerals in the water.
