a happy day…revisiting

In the last year, Dave and I have made a lot of new friends here in Omaha. I was talking to some of my friends at CAMP the other day about our wedding and how I wished they could have been there because it was so fun…and we went back on my computer through some of the old photos from that day. So yeah this is probably WAY old news to most of you.
We got married in 2008 at The Slowdown, a local music venue that had recently been constructed in North Downtown. We were the first wedding they hosted and I think we got an extremely sweet deal on everything because they didn’t know yet that it is customary to grossly inflate prices for weddings. (There’s a good tip in there for those of you looking for a venue!)

Our wedding party made up of our best friends…we didn’t have a rehearsal or an altar or a processional or anything like that, so they just kind of joined us on stage during the seven-minute ceremony.

My friend Kristal and the first felt flower bouquets I ever made.

We had our ceremony on stage and my cousin Riley was our officiant.

My grandparents gave us a toast. (They are so Mad Men!)

So that is pretty much that.

That night after everyone left, we walked to our hotel–me barefoot–and the next day we went to the zoo, opened some presents, and went back to work. It was a perfect day, but very “us” in that it was in many ways just another day. I always say that it’s a good sign when you get married and the wheels keep turning, the earth keeps spinning, and life goes on as usual. It’s comforting to wake up and be the same happy couple.
Two years later we’re still there. No big deal.

It’s so wonderful to read about another couple that thinks they remained the same happy couple after the wedding. My husband and I feel the same way and often people think it’s strange that we say nothing has changed. We wish you many more happy years together!

Thanks for sharing again pictures of your day. I have to admit I can’t stop staring at your beautiful outfit for the big day. I just LOVE the look you created. I can’t put my finger on it but there is just something about your pictures that just draw me to go back and look again and again.. especially at that dress. I came on to your site after your wedding.. is there more places to see more pictures? I would like to see!
