Have you seen that new Target commerical where the girl is standing in front of a rack of hats, and fantasizes about herself looking beautiful in a fantasy forest full of pretty people wearing hats. Then she snaps out of it and says, confidently, “I am totally a hat person!”

That’s me today.

I am totally a hat person!

Saying toodle-oo to Alice before I drive to work.

This weekend, CAMP and other businesses at the Mastercraft hosted a really cool event called Startup Weekend Omaha. It’s a little like Project Runway for entrepreneurs…they form teams of developers, marketers, and designers and start a company in just two days. It’s extremely intense and produces some very viable business plans.

This year the projects included a Focus Group Up, website to help companies reach their customers through video, Keepum, a service that archives tweets, Everpresent, a web and phone app that prompts parents to record their childrens’ milestones, and Call Spinner, a chatroulette-like place to call people anonymously on the phone.

I was honored and excited to be on the judging panel and it was a unanimous decision–Call Spinner won! It’s SO fun…I hope it catches on. Check out their website and give it a try. It’s actually a really well-thought-out business model for local markets.
