alice and megan’s first birthday

Posted on 30. May, 2011 by in pertaining to alice

It’s been a few weeks since Alice and my first birthday together and so I’m way overdue for a post about it. My mom took most of these photos. It was such a great day–no, week–with our friends and family and parties and getting so many lovely cards in the mail. There were a few aspects I really loved from our big first birthday bash.

Me and Alice’s matching skirt and dress (made by my assistants) ♥ Custom bottles of Jones Soda ♥ Pretty paper straws ♥ Tiny muffin cups of french toast sticks with syrup, fruit, and nut toppings ♥ Tiny triangles of grilled cheese ♥ Vintage Dixie cups ♥ Our “sunglasses and hats” theme (Alice’s favorite) ♥ Tiny ballet dancers on a big two-layer vegan chocolate cake ♥ Big prize ribbons with “A” and “1″ on them ♥ Felt party hats for each guest ♥ Make your own snack mix ♥ Children scribbling on our chalkboard door ♥ Bubble machine ♥ The insane amount of sweet friends and family who were able to stop by ♥ Our pretty handmade invitations ♥

Also, I had some technical problems for the last few weeks and the blog wasn’t publishing new posts for about half of my readers. If you are finally coming back after missing so many posts, I recommend that you start with our Annual Reader Survey. I’m extending it for another week so everyone gets a chance to respond and enter the big giveaway of all of my favorite things. So start there!

Happy birthday to us.

p.s. If you leave a comment on this one, leave it for Alice for her birthday. I will show her when she is older.

Happy Birthday Alice! I don’t live near but far away in California but I have watched you grow up here on this blog. You are the coolest kid I know. I don’t have a little girl but if I did I would want her to be like you! Have lots of fun with your Mom, Dad, Turbo and all your friends and family there in Omaha and don’t forget those out here wishing you lots of good fun times too! Happy Day Alice!!

    Hi Alice –

You should know little lady — you have one pretty cool Mama. I have one of those too…. It might take you a while, but one day you’re going to grow up and realize that she could totally run the world and anything she has ever told you is probably correct. (That’s what happened to me). The first year of your life has been hilarious, fun, precious and touching to be a part of. You seem like a bright, happy, person and I can’t wait to continue to follow your adventures.

    Happy Birthday Alice!

We’ve never met, but I’ve enjoyed watching you grow in pictures that your mama posts here. I hope you had a fantastic 1st birthday party!

I love everything about this party from the Alice-inspired theme (sunglasses + hats) to the tiny ballerinas to the matching mommy and Alice outfits.

    Hi Alice!
You don’t know me, I read your momma’s blog. I remember reading about the house you live in, then about how your parents were expecting you. I’ve followed along with the whole story, and loved it! You seem so sweet and smart, and I hope when I have children, they’re as lovely as you!
Hopefully you’ll love blogging and felt flower bouquets as much as your momma. I can see you become her apprentice!
    Happy birthday!!

Hi Alice! I’ve never met you in person, and I live far away (in Canada!), but I’ve gotten the chance to watch you grow this past year and it has been so wonderful. You seem to be such a sweet, smart, funny little lady who knows how to have so much fun. I’ve loved looking at your photos, and reading about all of the new things you’ve been learning. I remember when your mama posted a photo of her holding a pink balloon, and we found out that little Alice (that’s you!) was on the way. And now here we are, and you are ONE year old! You’re an awesome little gal, and your mama loves you so very much – she tells us all the time. Happy first birthday, sweet girl!
