Embroidered felt price tags: a fun (eco-friendly!) DIY for crafty businessowners

Posted on 12. Jul, 2011 by in Grab Bag

We are beginning our push before The Creative Connection Event, working on kits, gift bags, things to sell at our marketpace table, and just practicing teaching our classes so we will do our best for all of you who have signed up to learn from us.

Emma had the idea that we should use create some reusable price tags for our vendor table at the TCC Marketplace. Below we stepped out our process if you want to create something similar for your own salesy handmade endeavors.

We used an Accucut Mark III to cut out these price tags–it’s a great die cutter for both fabric and paper. It’s also easy to freehand a template that you can trace onto your fabric.

You could even take these ideas and make a label instead (like the ones we put on the fronts of our felt notebook covers), or a gift tag to attach to a present. I love the thought of a sentiment sewn onto a square of felt attached to a box, to be saved or pinned to a bulletin board. Or a glass canister of coffee with a hand-stitched label hot glued onto the front. As for us…we have 100 more price tags to make. :)

Note: Thanks for everyone who has signed up for our classes at The Creative Connection–and especially for those who have gotten their friends to come along! If you sign up with a friend, let me know–I’m putting together some awesome gift bags for the attendees.

Oh you gals! You have inspired me into a solution for my tagging situation. I was looking for a material to make a soft tag for the sock monkeys I make and I never thought of felt! Thank you!

BTW this AccuCut die cutter is a beautiful piece of machinery. If anyone is thinking of investing in one, I would definitely go for it. Save and then just splurge! The dies are made out of wood and metal and the die cutting machine is mostly metal with suction cups on the bottom to keep it in place. It is well built, ergonomic and user friendly.

The AccuQuilt studio machine also looks wonderful: http://www.accuquilt.com/studio-shop/studio-fabric-cutter/studio-fabric-cutter.html

I would like one for my own studio some day!
