I need an intern.

Posted on 04. Jul, 2011 by in business

Our schedule for the next three months at Princess Lasertron is a little bit busier than usual. In July we have the Emerging Designer Show with Omaha Fashion Week and the 1-year CAMP Anniversary. August we have Omaha Fashion Week and a fundraiser fashion show at CAMP for Help Adult Services, and the following week in September we have Barcamp Omaha, BlogHer Handmade, and The Creative Connection Event in St. Paul, Minnesota. We would really love to have a few extra hands around the studio, and with the exciting events coming up, we can offer some really cool and unique experiences.

I am looking for three people to help out for a period of one month each–July, August, and September.

Responsibilities include…
…Making kits for the Creative Connection Event and for the Princess Lasertron store
…Some light stitching on bouquet orders
…Packaging promotional materials
…Keeping CAMP clean, taking out trash, general tidying
…Taking inventory of drinks & food at CAMP
…Organizing receipts
…Keeping track of inventory (thread, felt, trims, wire, adhesives, etc)
…Running errands (post office, hardware store, stuff like that)
…Ironing/steaming garments
…Dressing models
…Serving as runners/assistants for Omaha Fashion Week
…Serving as runners/assistants/greeters for Barcamp Omaha
…Being nice to one-year-old Alice

What I can offer you…
…Food, treats, and the occasional cocktail
…You can learn how a thriving small business works and grows
…Receive behind-the-scenes experience at Omaha Fashion Week
…Help plan some great parties
…Invitations to fun events
…Access to my secret sources
…Opportunity to meet major national media contacts and bloggers who will be our guests at OFW
…An amazingly creative and collaborative work atmosphere at CAMP

Ideal candidates…
…Can commit to 15 hours/week
…Have two great references
…Are able to work hard in a casual, non-traditional environment
…Posses organizational skills
…Have reliable transportation
…Live in the Omaha area

We are willing to work with schools for college credit and I’m also happy to write letters of recommendation and stuff like that in the future. Any takers? To apply, e-mail me at meg@princesslasertron.com and tell me about yourself, your availability, and your qualifications.

I told my college costume design about it. I know she has a lot of great students who already know the basics of sewing, so they would be able to stitch, iron/steam, and dress models…. Hope you find someone amazing!
