Carrie and Ryan’s Fun & Nerdy New Jersey Wedding
Posted on 13. Aug, 2011 by Princess Lasertron in bouquets
I’ve been just up to my ears in fashion week stuff, that I haven’t been talking as much about the weddings we’ve been working on in the last month! There have been some great ones though, like Carrie and Ryan’s beautiful beach wedding last month that was a perfect mix of family and tradition and crafty DIY partying down! Carrie just sent me some of their photos from the wedding, taken by Abella Studios.

For Carrie’s bouquet, we used many personal pieces that she sent us in the mail, including ivory covered buttons and lace that we snipped from her mother’s wedding dress! The handle was wrapped in her grandmother’s handkerchiefs. Because she was planning on doing a trash the dress photoshoot, Carrie wanted a bouquet that would last forever.
I have to say my favorite details are the Dr. Who cake and the CAKE CAKE! If you have a nerdy streak yourself, you’ll see what I mean. Enjoy!

what was the best thing about the day?
The number one thing on our list of expectations was to have a big, fun party. We got to dance for every song and partied our butts off!
what happened that you didn’t expect?
We had a few spillsWe were planning on doing a day after photo shoot, so it was moderately important that we keep our clothes in good shape. I think 5 minutes into the cocktail hour I spilled soda on my dress and maybe halfway through the reception, Ryan spilled soda on his shirt. Luckily my friend Liz was at the ready with the Tide pen and Shout wipes!
what advice do you have for other brides?
I totally believe in the day after the wedding photo shoot. Ryan is a photographer by trade, so he knew that taking photos on the beach around the same time as there ceremony (5PM) would not make for the best formal shots. We set up a whole separate day to do fun formal shots the day after the wedding. At first I didn’t think it would be fun, having to get dressed up again, having to run around the day after. It was great! We got to take our time with photos and have fun — I think it shows.
what about your wedding were you most proud of?
From the centerpieces, to the felt flowers, to the attire, it was all us, and we enjoyed every second of it! We were determined to attend the cocktail hour, relax, and dance the night away, and we did it! Ryan has been to tons and tons of weddings because of his job, so we wanted it to be unique and so we broke a lot of the “rules.” I’m really glad we stuck to our guns and ended up with a wedding that is exactly what we wanted.

Thanks again to Abella Studios for those great shots and congratulations, Ryan and Carrie!

Day after photoshoots are the best – its fun to get dressed up again and your so much more relaxed!
Aisle runner of felt flowers? Love that! Wish there was a clearer shot it though.

Love the flowers as always. The photo of the Boutonnière is my favorite because of the colors!! You are so talented Megan!
