meredith’s bouquet

Hello friends! We’re at The Creative Connection Event in St. Paul, Minnesota right now for the rest of the week! We’ve been teaching, learning, networking with some amazing industry heavyweights like Holly Becker of Decor8…Mena Trott of Sew Weekly (and formerly SixApart)…Christine Ferrare who has a show on OWN, Nora Abousteit who founded BurdaStyle, Leigh Standley of Curly Girl…I could go on forever. We are in awe and everything here is amazing. Everyone is nice. The food is all good. It’s a fantastic conference. We have been posting pictures and videos using our new 4G phone from Verizon over on our twitter account–go check it out and if you aren’t following me, jump on the bandwagon already!

Meanwhile, let’s share some new pretty…Meredith’s bridal bouquet!

In Meredith’s vintage French market-inspired bouquet, we used accents of navy and magenta, and found some beautiful vintage crocheted flowers at a shop that we integrated into some of the blooms.

To make it personal, Meredith also asked that we include a stem of forget-me-nots that would also serve as her “something blue.” I love this concept and since we posted this order on Flickr, we’ve already gotten more requests for some forget-me-not bouquets.

I love the color balance in this order, and what it says about the style of the couple. I think this deep purple mulberry and navy are such bold colors to choose for a wedding, and sophisticated–they don’t connote mascot colors or high school prom, and they haven’t been done time and time again in every wedding magazine and blog. Mixing those purple and blue tones with the varied shades of white and soft lace updates a traditional color scheme and style and balances what would normally be such strong colors on their own. It’s one of my favorites this season for sure.

- Leave a comment telling me about a meaningful color palette to you. What are you really feeling drawn toward right now? Is there a color story that really evokes an emotion or a memory for you?
Now, I’m off to bed for a few hours.
Class at 8am!

I think this one is particularly lovely. I enjoy all the different details in it. The unique in how it came together.
