Dear Sweet Awesome Dude Lady,

Ugh I am just in shock in the last few weeks at what a little kid you’re becoming. I was laying in bed with you the other morning and you were absolutely relaxing next to me, laying on a pillow watching your tv show, with one finger in your belly button and the other hand making your bunny bounce up and down next to you. “Ooooooop! Eee-ooooop.” You said. I reached over to ruffle your hair and you whined and pushed my hand away. Not into distractions from your bunny jumping and Yo Gabba Gabba watching project.
But I’m glad that you want to snuggle in bed with me.

Every morning you wake up around 7 or 8am (it’s total BS) and your dad wakes up with you, makes you breakfast, changes and dresses you and plays with you until he has to go to work. Then he dumps you in bed with me where you play, jump, watch Yo Gabba Gabba, and sing. Sometimes you get things out of your toy box and bring them into bed, or do some cleaning and organizing around your room while I doze. Is that child abuse? Am I a child abuser? Is someone going to call the police and say that I sleep while you play? Anyway, I love the mornings–though I’m tired–because every time you rise, you absolutely shine. You are getting smarter by the day. You dance along to the dances on your favorite tv show. On Yo Gabba Gabba there’s a guy who beatboxes and you always try to beatbox too, which is so cool. You have a set of makeup brushes that you sometimes brush on my cheeks as I’m sleeping, or you bring over a necklace and lay it across my chest. Yer smart.

You love your stuffed animals so much. Every time we get ready to leave the house, I remind you to pick what babies you want to bring with you. What I love is that you always choose a different animal. You have a few standby favorites–Golden Dog, Pinkbear, Flocki the Bunny–but you give everyone a turn to go in the car and spend the day with you. Your caterpillar, your panda, your koala, your cow, your kitties. You are caring and kind. We also all see that you are developing a sense of humor. You are so funny, really. You are an imp. You are just going to be so much trouble.
What else is new?
- You have started jumping in the air
- You love to converse–whether it’s with yourself or your animals, or yelling over us as you dad and I talk (ignoring you), or responding to us when we chat with you. You even use inflection just like us.
- I got out of bed with you the other day and found that you had lined up ALL your stuffed animals in your bed. That’s a photo I wish I got. But I won’t forget it.
- You love peach tea.
- You love cauliflower.
- You love milkshakes.
- You’re very interested in trying to fold and hang up clothes. That makes one of us.
- Stuffed animals are your favorite toys.
- You love your books–your favorite books are “I am a Bunny” and “The Big Hungry Bear…” You have favorite pages that you always turn to.
- Monkey see monkey do.
- You love to count. One, two, three: “Ahh, ahhh, ah!”
- You love your grandma’s big blue sippy cup.

Sometimes you look at me and I see my tiny baby. The girl I first met. And sometimes I look at you and see your dad. And sometimes I see you, as you are every day, in each moment, changing and growing and developing into your own individual personality. You’re such a sweet person. I’m so lucky to know you.
I love you the most.
