a happy list.

I’m in kind of a tough place right now emotionally.
Whenever I feel down, I get REALLY down. That’s part of my personality and I just know that about myself. So let’s think about what’s good.
- I went to the Omaha Healing Arts Center last weekend for a Reiki session with Kirstin Kluver. It was my first time–I had been trying to make an appointment for weeks and I feel like it was just what I need right now. It was just so good to be in a room with a friend who was invested in my happiness, who was giving her undivided attention and positive energy to me, because I really believe there is something healing about feeling loved.
- Alice learned how to jump in the air.
- Maksim Chmerkovskiy
- We have a dozen pumpkins in front of our picture window at CAMP waiting to be carved at our Halloween party this Friday. I love big happy orange pumpkins.
- My three-week old cherry red shellac manicure that is positively pristine
- Alice deposited the change in her piggy bank at the bank today with grandma and got a free pumpkin! (I LOVE our bank.)
- Bringing style–and can I say a little taste?–to baby headbands. (They’re on my table and almost finished!)
- I’m speaking today at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mass Media 1500 class about how I use social media in my career. I speak to this class every semester with Dusty Davidson of Silicon Prairie News + a few other friends on a panel (in the past it has also included author Wendy Townley and this semester, designer Steve Gordon is joining us). I have heard through twitter that a few of you readers are actually in the class so I can’t wait to meet you in person!
- I fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans.
- Made a bat costume for Alice today at work.
- Today I was interviewed in a video segment for Gallup about our experience in their Entrepreneurship Acceleration System in the past year. Check out a picture from the interview! Studio’s pretty messy. I’m wearing an Odille blouse, Elevenses skirt, and Hue tights.

- The BHLDN sale right now is off the hook. When I saw this dress I almost cried–my favorite color, my favorite shape, and my favorite detail–a HUGE BOW!
- Our date night over the last few months has been watching Mad Men on Netflix and we just watched the last episode of the series tonight–dying now for the new season! Megan!?
- My intern Anna Vargas is freaking amazing. Amazing redesign for our Felt Flower Bouquet Kits and packaging, awesome focus, and pumpkin cake pops! Girl you rock my world.
- Sarah Tvrdik of Fash Flood is doing a burlesque/retro-themed photoshoot tomorrow wearing our VuVu romper. That’s going to be a great post.
- Homemade apple butter from my mom
- I love the color scheme of the new order I’m doing for a December wedding–blues, purples, and slate greys that blend together in an almost ombre way.
- SNL on Hulu
- Late-night (or early-morning?) twitter convos with Kat of Rock n Roll Bride (we’re doing New York next May!)
thank you all for reading
ask a friend how they’re doing today
sometimes we all need to talk.

I’ve also been feeling quite down lately, I think it must be something about the weather changing and less sunlight during the day. Kudos to you for writing a list of things making you happy- sometimes we need a reminder of all the good things in our lives.

Good for you to take care of yourself and look at the positives. That is just another reason that you might be the coolest girl in the world..
Have a great day! Keep yourself out there!

I love it. Kudos on pegging where you’re at and naming what’s good. And writing it down. And sharing it. And encouraging Everyone Else. I love your list!

I love this. I’ve been feeling kinda blah lately, too. I should put together a list.
You are great. It was fun seeing you for a bit at Pitch last night!

WOW–making it into your pre-pregnancy jeans–that is VERY GUD! That’s gotta put a smile on your face! I’ll tell you something I think is good…my 3-yr old daughter saying, “I have a happy heart.” I love that!

Ah, thank you for this and for keeping it real. I have had the blues too and maybe I need to make a happy list to remind myself of the good and happy, and take care of myself too.

For some reason I am feeling down as well currently. I cant put my finger on why, but your post really helped me focus on positive energy this morning. Driving into work in the darkness this morning didn’t help, but my 6 year old playing DJ did. Thank you friend

This is a good idea to make a list of what is good. I too get bogged down in the “BLAH”. Makism would definitely make my list! And where do you bank…I’ve never heard anyone say they love their bank! I HATE our bank.
Hope your week gets better!
