Playing with Haiku Deck: Things you need to know about me

Posted on 12. Oct, 2012 by in in my journal

I heard about this cool free app called Haiku Deck a few weeks ago at Lincoln Startup Weekend and since I downloaded it, I havent’t stopped playing with it. Its simplicity makes it easy to make quick slide decks and it’s obviously designed to help you get to the point of your presentation–no space for flowery language or rambling text on the two lines of copy per slide. For me, the sparseness of the app makes it as fun to play with as it is useful. As I chose photos from my albums in various social networks and brainstormed ideas for quick slide shows, it reminded me of the hours spent toying with HyperStudio as a kid. Really. It’s just fun.

I’ve used Haiku Deck so far to give a presentation at the University of Nebraska-Omaha about storytelling with social media. But here’s one I made for fun.

First time posting from iPad. Hope it works.

I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time now and I was absolutely surprised that you want to teach English in Germany. I have taught English as a second language for years in Asia and the U.S. and I would love to swap places with you and instantly have your embroidery skills and talent and make bouquets all day. I think I could do that for a while :) I hope you get to teach English! I think it’s the best way to get to learn about a culture and country.
