As I arrange each bouquet after I finish the flowers, I tend to arrange them very tightly, kinda crammed in together. Once the bride receives the flowers, she can “fluff” it out as much as she wants and add some more volume to the bouquet, or leave it more densely packed as I arranged it.

Right now I’m working on a bouquet more like the ones I’ve done in the past–all one type of flower, all the same length, uniform stitching on the leaves–and one more like Janice’s except even a little bit more wild in the heights and fullness of the whole bouquet. Going back and forth between each style is fun and I love the creative challenge.

We are getting married with an antique barn as the backdrop (weather permitting). Our guests will be seated upon hay bales covered with picnic blankets and will be provided a program that doubles as a fan. Bridesmaids will be dressed in gray dresses with yellow shoes and jewelry, carrying vintage picnic baskets. My fiance will be wearing a black tux. I’m wearing a simple and pretty ivory dress with my cowgirl boots. Reception to follow inside a barn, vintage chandeliers, mason jars full of flowers, candles and pretty white lights.

Needless to say, I can’t wait to see the pictures! In the meantime, here are some shots of her bouquet.

Besides Rachel’s bridal bouquet, I also made bouquets for her bridesmaids as well as some boutonnieres and corsages.

Make it pretty!

I decided to name them simple names, and offer them up because they are so different from anything I’ve done in the past. Besides the fabric elements, each handle is 12” long and when you hold one in your hands, it feels like brandishing a magic wand. They’re top-heavy, and the different levels and precious vintage beads and buttons in each one offer a million places for your eye to land. They’re all similar in construction, but very different in color. Enjoy.

Tanja and David shared some of their favorite snaps from their wedding day and I’m happy to share them with you! All photos by Erika Dotson Photography.

All of the buttons used in their wedding were from a tin of buttons given to Tanja by David’s mother that belonged to his grandmother, which was a beautiful way of tying her memory into the day. She also stitched their wedding date into the inside of his blazer, and sewed a heart button from his grandmother’s collection on the inside of the lapel–so sweet. These are the personal touches that make these beautiful weddings so memorable, and it’s such a unique honor for me to be a part of the celebration.
