invites

They’re sorta kinda finished.
I still have to make an extra card to enclose with a little map, directions, and hotel info.
But this is the main bit.
They will actually be on 5×17” strips of paper, accordion folded. With each graphic part on a different panel. And the RSVP card is perforated to detatch and send.
I still have to print them. And print labels. And and and.
I am a lame bride….anti-bridezilla. The wedding message boards and communities I read are all “MY WEDDING IS 400 DAYS AWAY AND OUR BM (best man in bridecode–not bowel movement) AND FH (future husband? or worse, future HUBBY *cringe*) DIDNT WANT TO HELP ME CHOOSE A STRING OCTET FOR OUR RECEPTION” etc whatever. and I’m all, “When is our wedding again? Oh crap maybe I should plan something.”
All the test invites I’ve made look great…but it makes me nervous to start printing them all! what if I change my mind? I better get over this fear of committment fast, huh.

Today is Matt’s senior prom…my little brother. I can’t believe he’s growing up so fast, yadda yadda, all that. I had agreed to make a corsage for his date and a boutonniere for him, but I didn’t realize it was TODAY until last night. I had planned to wake up early and work on it, but I thought it would be easier for me to stay up late than to wake up early. So I was up really late, but I cranked it out and if you ask me, it was perfect.
Their dance is at the Western Heritage Museum in Omaha…..TRES CHIC!! I think my prom was at a much less glamorous place, but I don’t even remember. I remember post-prom being in the junior high gymnasium.
I hope I get a few more photos from my brother when I see him next. I didn’t see any really detailed photos of his flower yet. That’s okay, it will never wilt and die, so I can always photo it later.

Hollie’s wedding was really lovely. The reception was out at the Bellevue Berry Farm. My favorite part was the bonfire, and lots of board games set up on the tables. The tables were also covered in paper and there were cups of crayons out….great for me as my attention span is ZERO. Here are a few shots from Dave’s camera…mine aren’t uploaded yet.
Interestingly, no photos of the bride, but I’ll update later more. There was also a photobooth, so I have some of those strips to share too eventually!
I really LIKE the present I gave her…a bag with three flower pins on it, and inside was an apron I made with a heart-shaped pin with her new monogram, and the new Martha cookie cookbook (for Micah, I guess?) And a whole bunch of nice stationery and pens. The bag of crap looked really cute among all the wrapped boxes, if I do say so myself.
ALSO today is my brother Matt’s senior prom. A few weeks ago I agreed to make a boutonniere for him and a corsage for his date, and last night at about 1am, I found out that, oh, he needed those TOMORROW. So I stayed up until about 4am cranking these out. I act like such a martyr but actually it was fine, because I am a night owl and I probably would have been awake anyway.
My mom has been instructed to take better photos of these tonight when she sees them off….now I’m on my way to Dave’s sister’s house for CHRISTMAS! Yeah we are lazy over here. Only about four months late…..

mad busy

whewwwwww. Today has been mad busy. I woke up early and put together about a dozen felt flower pin kits, measuring long strings of color-coordinated embroidery thread, cutting out layers and layers of colorful felt flowers, and picking out embellishments like lace and buttons. Throw it all in a hello kitty ziplock bag, and there’s another flower pin (or barrette) ready to be born.
I also made six new pins last night (Do you ever get a second wind, at, say, 2am? Me too.) and added those to the Princess Lasertron store.
Tonight I’m going to see Cirque du Soleil here in Omaha. Not sure what to expect…except that I know it will be amazing. I’m most excited to see the costumes. To be honest, I’m sort of afraid of clowns, but fascinated by Cirque. This is my first time seeing a Cirque show!

Did you see/do any good April Fool’s jokes today? All of the featured videos on YouTube are pretty good today. Worth checking out.
For the first time in yeeeeears I didn’t actually pull any pranks today. I spent all morning at Borders sipping hot chocolate (um, COMPLETELY COVERED AND OVERFLOWING with whipped cream and sprinkles/chocolate/everything ever) and reading magazines. I love doing that—Borders is just down the street from me, so I get a big old stack of magazines, my laptop, and just veg out with a drink for several hours.
Ah, unemployment.
Here’s the spread I’m working with today….I need to get my shop filled up! New color combinations…very fresh and sophisticated I think. I love robins egg blue, cranberry, and muted neutrals together now.
