new haircut + elsewhere on the internet
Posted on 05. Mar, 2013 by Princess Lasertron.

I got a new haircut last week and I LOVE it. I went back to get a little bit more trimmed off the bottom, but the layers add tons of body and really expand my styling options. I can still wear it flat and it looks about the same as it used to, but when I curl it it’s like turning it up to 11! Also, there’s Alice wearing a knitted purse as a hat bringing elfin realness, and my floor in my studio tonight as I put together seven new kits for customers, still 60% off with code TAKE60.
What else is up?
- Classic and Whimsy Meet at Hello Holiday. The COOP did an interview with Sarah and me about Hello Holiday as well as a really bangin’ photoshoot. I’m so happy with how it turned out and I thought author Wendy Townley asked some incredibly thoughtful questions.
- Starting Something Big in the Silicon Prairie. Silicon Prarie News asked me to write this guest post about why I love living and working in the Midwest, and why I’m looking forward to their next superconference in Kansas City!
- It’s our first end-of-season clearance at Hello Holiday, which I know is the most wonderful time of year for shoppers! Pick up coats, gorgeous cotton canvas dresses, shoes, and bags for up to 60% off. Our denim is all 50% off–we carry a brand called Level 99 and it’s one of the most comfortable and best-reviewed brands out there. Free returns on denim (cause we know you’ve gotta try it on), free shipping over $100.
- Owning It: Changing Gender Roles Lead to Greater Opportunities for Female Entrepreneurs in Nebraska. Hilary Stohs-Krause wrote this piece for Nebraska’s PBS profiling women leaders in business and the unique challenges they face. I’m honored to be included in the article with several of my most admired peers.

Featured Interview today on Move LifeStyle’s Girl Friday Column
Posted on 01. Feb, 2013 by Princess Lasertron.

Today I was featured on MoveLifeStyle.com as their Girl Friday. Actress Autumn Reeser did a really sweet interview with me and I love how it all turned out. I weigh in on activism, small business ownership and building a startup, motherhood, and why I love living in Omaha. Check it out!
I felt like I was just climbing a bullshit imaginary fame ladder comparing myself to every other blogger I admired. It’s really embarrassing to look back on now. Before this year, I had not been emotionally challenged in a long time, so I didn’t feel the change when it started to come. I realized I had a lot of lessons to learn.
Never sell yourself short – you are good enough. Show the world why you matter, don’t wait for it to ask you. Be very, very brave.
The best thing about Omaha right now is that people just don’t know what they can’t do. We don’t say “That can’t happen here.” In Omaha, we work hard and do it anyway.
And more. Go read it! Big thanks to Jess Ewald for the photos.

I was on KMTV’s morning show Morning Blend today. Watch the video!
Posted on 27. Nov, 2012 by Princess Lasertron.
This morning I was invited to go on Omaha’s KMTV morning show, The Morning Blend, and talk about Hello Holiday for a moment with Andee Hoig, the publisher of Spirit of Omaha magazine. I really like Andee–we were both feeling a little low-energy this morning and then we had a nice conversation in the green room about working in an office vs. working from home. Spirit of Omaha just went totally remote with their writers and we talked about how freeing it is to be able to leave the office. So that was a wonderful interaction, and we had a fabulous short little interview, and I’ve already gotten really positive feedback on Facebook and Twitter from people who saw it. I just pulled this video off of the Morning Blend website, so give it a look!
