new video: making boutonnieres!
Posted on 02. Apr, 2012 by Princess Lasertron.
I made this quick video the other day sharing some of the tips and techniques I use when making boutonnieres for my bridal customers. I also show how my buttons are organized and share a few of my favorites!
In this video, I’m making the traditional-style bouts that I first designed in the very beginning of Princess Lasertron, and they’re still the best seller. I have several styles that I love making and you can browse through the styles in this post from last year!
(here’s what I was working on in the video!)

Do you have any questions about how to make boutonnieres for your wedding party? (They’re great for prom too!)

video blog: my new plans for CAMP
Posted on 04. Oct, 2011 by Princess Lasertron.
I’m working on nine brides for this month, making my sketches and conceptualizing for Fall/Winter 2012, redecorating CAMP, making some fall clothes for Alice, and trying to blog every day this month while getting ready for Radvent in December. So I took a break to make a little video!
What I’m otherwise relaxing with…
- Check out this tutorial on FashFlood from my friends Sarah and Rebecca and give your hair the perfect blowout!
- Play the little HTML5 game my husband developed with SlouchCouch, his Startup Weekend team. They are continuing to meet at CAMP and working on a few new games for the iPhone.
- “Dont take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you.” – Don Miquel Ruiz via RuPaul
- Micah Baldwin’s take on the Secret Life of an Entrepreneur
- Making 12 sets of shoe clips to upload to the shop this week

video tutorial: valentine’s day folder craft project and a GIVEAWAY!
Posted on 17. Jan, 2010 by Princess Lasertron.
Hey babes and dudes! Ready for a Valentine’s Day project and giveaway?
I made a video tutorial showing how to make an easy folder to store all of your valentines in! There are lots of variations on the basic project I will show you which I outline in the video. I think these folders will make great gifts for your friends, or you can sit down with your kids and make a bunch of little ones for their classmates! Plus there is a bonus appearance from my dog, Scout.

If you like this project, leave a comment and give me some feedback, and if you want to try it out, I have re-written the list of materials you need below. So many of us have these materials around the house already and it’s such a fun easy project!
Materials Needed:
…three 10×6” pieces of decorative paper or cardstock (two-sided is best)
…five 10×3” pieces of decorative paper (one-sided is fine)
…Zip Dry paper glue from Beacon Adhesives (you can get this at most craft stores)
…your own favorite embellishments and decorative elements (I used Japanese masking tapes, butcher’s twine, and markers for most of mine)
…a hole punch and some twine OR a sewing machine (to bind the folder)

I put together a sweet little package of everything you need to make the Valentine’s Day folder, including a brand new bottle Zip Dry. I really do love this glue and it’s all I’ve been using for paper for about four years.
I’m also going to throw in a few extra special fun destash-y surprises for the winner.
To win, leave a comment below and tell me something I wanna hear. I’ll let the random number generator pick a winner this Friday. This is open to international readers, so go for it!

video tutorial: no-sew notebook cover and a giveaway!!
Posted on 18. Sep, 2009 by admin.
Hey babes and dudes!
I made a video tutorial today showing how to make an easy no-sew notebook cover. It’s a lot like the notebook covers I have been making lately, except there is no sewing and no stress (and you get the same awesome results)! Plus there is a bonus appearance from my cat, Turbo.
If you like this project, leave a comment and give me some feedback, and if you want to try it out, I have re-written the list of materials you need below. So many of us have these materials around the house already and it’s such a fun easy project!
Materials Needed
…a notebook or planner to be covered (I used a Moleskine pocket notebook)
…Felt or other heavy fabric to cover the book. You’ll need an amount of fabric that is twice the area of the book cover. (9×12 pieces from craft stores work well for small books, but for larger ones I recommend buying yardage from Wool Felt Central.)
…A rotary cutter and ruler
…Fabri-Tac glue from Beacon Adhesives (you can get this in most craft stores, even Wal-Mart!)
…Your own trims and embellishments (optional)
I actually have a bottle of Fabri-Tac glue to give away to one lucky reader. I really do love this stuff, and I’ve been using it exclusively for about five years. I use it in all of my bouquets and it is perfect for quick fixes–I use it like I would a glue gun. Yup. I love it. You will too.
I’m also going to throw in a few extra special fun destash-y surprises for the winner.
To win, leave a comment and tell me something I wanna hear. I’ll let the random number generator pick a winner next Wednesday.

video: painting buttons saves money
Posted on 13. Aug, 2009 by admin.
Yesterday I shared some photos of Leah’s bridal bouquet that I created using big felt posies, grey and white mother of pearl buttons, and some special painted buttons in bright shades of teal and turquoise.
Teal, light pink, and certain shades of blue and green are highly sought-after colors by my clients, and the high demand comes with a high price. To avoid passing the cost on to my customers, sometimes I carefully paint plain buttons to match the customer’s color palette, and when done right, no one can tell the difference. In this video I show you how to save money by painting your own plain, boring buttons to achieve the same effect!
Don’t forget to go over to the beautifully inspiring blog Taza and Husband and enter to win one of my awesome cool back-to-school notebook covers! I think today is the last day to enter…
Also remember to vote for me to win Martha Stewart’s DIY wedding crafts contest and help me achieve my dream of teaching a craft on the Martha Stewart Show! You guys have been crazy supportive so far and I think I might actually have a shot at this!
