I feel like it’s been at least eight months or a year since I uploaded a new range of embroidered felt flower pins to the shop. The pins are what started it all–in 2005 on Etsy I began selling embroidered pins and the felt flower bouquets that are my bread and butter now stemmed from that original pin design. This range in the shop now feature details like baker’s twine embroidery, dyed french netting, hand-cut flowers and vintage buttons from my favorite reserves.

I’m going to strive to keep my shop stocked up with lots of cool embroidered felt flower pins. They’re also a great way for me to practice new stitches and explore fun color combinations I’ve wanted to play with. Each pin is $30 and is backed with both a brooch pin and a hair clip for versatility.

Last week, the Lasertron Family packed up and drove up to Blair, my hometown, to celebrate my brother Matt’s 22nd birthday at our parents house. My mom made a beautiful five-layer gradient cake (chocolate to vanilla) and we had homemade pizzas. It was so nice to catch up with my brother–he’ll always be one of my best friends.

Lovestruck is Omaha’s first wedding show created for the modern couple to provide inspiration for the wedding of their dreams. Co-created by Candace Kalasky of Lovestruck Events, Lesley Pick of Inclosed Studio, and me, the inaugural Lovestruck event in September 2012 will bring magic, simple beauty, and explosive creativity to brides in the Midwest. The cool news is, we’re looking for an intern!

We’re looking for a commitment of about 12 hours per week for four months, starting May 1. It’ll probably be less time in the beginning and more as the event ramps up over the summer. The position is unpaid, but it’s not a bad gig–we can provide tons of food, small business experience, plenty of treats, the occasional cocktail, connections with major media contacts and industry leaders, and of course the opportunity to be a part of an exciting and influential large-scale event. In the wedding world, that’s pretty big.

• Performing general administrative assistance (research, meeting coordination, gathering supplies for photoshoots, organizational projects)
• Writing blog posts
• Completing design work
• Managing databases
• Working with the media to organize event publicity

 good morning!

Boo the Dog–a big hit in our house lately. I just learned about this guy the other day when Alice picked out his book at a store, and then I learned about the stuffed animal, bought that, and it’s just progressed from there. We had a meeting at my friend Sarah’s house the other night and Alice spent the whole time browsing Boo’s profile pictures on Facebook.

For lunch today we had tofu, broccoli, cantaloupe, pumpkin bread from grandma, and some almonds. Alice spilled a little milk but wiped it up with her napkin.

When Alice starts to feel sleepy, her “tell” is when she starts putting all of her animals to bed. She usually falls asleep in the car while we’re doing errands, so I count on that time for her to take a nap for an hour or so. Today I had no such luck–no naptime. Before we leave, she gathers up as many animals as she can carry to bring into the car.
