around here, I do things my way. I live alone. I’m unemployed. I have a car and a bike. and a cat. I don’t have any kids. Every day is pretty much a blank slate.
Yesterday I stayed up until about 5am (not unusual for me) memorizing the entire internet, and I slept in this morning until….um….later than I want to say. So tonight I am staying up all night to get my clock back on schedule and go to sleep early tomorrow night.
One thing I need to get after is writing thank you notes. So that’s what I’m settling in to do all night.
I really like to send handmade cards (by me or other people), and I wanted to share this collection of some of my favorite notes and cards online.
This card just kills me. Adorable. To a special little boy or a special big boy. It’s from Sweetbeats on etsy.

This needs no explanation. So clever. I want these for my bridal shower or bachelorette party thank yous! wink. By Paperedtogether.

This card from Oddball Press is what I want for graduation cards. It would also be great without the “congrats and good luck” line because then it would work as thank you notes for grad gifts. The text is just hilarious though.

I already own several cards from MamaRobot that I plan to frame when I live in my Married House, and after seeing their work in person I enthusiastically recommend them.

So, I think writing at least one letter every week is a fun habit to get into.
Kids like letters. You know, they don’t really get any mail of their own usually. Can you imagine being five or six years old and getting a little envelope in the mail with a card stuffed with a few sticks of gum, or sheets of stickers, or baseball cards? Jackpot.
Grownups like letters. They get a lot of bills and junk mail. Sometimes when you are a grownup, you don’t look forward to getting the mail because you know that you will feel disappointed if there’s nothing good in there. Getting a letter in the mail is enough to make my entire day, usually.
Okay that was a long post. bye bye.

Can’t post pictures yet of the dress. But…

I got my hair and makeup done at noon
I didn’t model until 7:30
It was kind of a long day! But very fun. Joi Mahon, the designer of my dress, really really generously let me put some of my Princess Lasertron business cards and bouquets of flowers in her Dress Forms Design vendor booth. About half of the cards were taken….I’m a dork and I counted…so if you are visiting here from the Style Show, hi! You already got to see my dress! So keep yer lips zipped.
On the drive there and back I just made felt flower bouquets. And talked my mom’s ear off.
Tomorrow is my brother Matt’s high school graduation. Professor Lasertron and I will be making and serving waffles from 4-7 at his party. Because my mom throws good parties.

OMG SO BUSY
not really though, I guess. I’ve had something to do almost every day this week…but only, like, one thing. But since I am the kind of person who only likes to do ONE THING every day, I feel kind of worn out. I cant imagine how whiny I would get if I ever got a real job.
In the last week….what happened?
My two future nieces got baptized and confirmed. Well they each got one or the other. Not both.
Went to a birthday party for one of my oldest friends.
Went to Sioux City twice in two days for that fashion show thing I did.
I turned 22!
Went to a bridal shower that my cousin Beth and aunts Jane and Becky planned. It was SO fun…very classy and casual, great snacks, great company.
Of course I have photos of all this………..I gotta get those off my mom’s camera though.
OH SPEAKING OF MOMS???

I have two extra ladies to celebrate mother’s day for this year. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in my life.

Today my mom and I spent all day in Sioux City for the Runway Review rehearsal today! I really really really want to show more pictures…more wonderful details…but Professor Lasertron isn’t seeing the dress until the big day.

It’s probably for the best. All this wedding talk might be boring. I know I’m getting bored listening to myself. Is that bad?

The most important and super cool thing right now is that Joi Mahon, the designer of my dress, is going to have a vendor booth at the Runway Review where she can showcase all of the seriously awesome things she makes. I think this woman is creative and crazy talented, and I think someday I will be able to say “Oh, I’m wearing Joi Mahon” and everyone around me will nod approvingly because she will be a totally famous world-renowned gown designer.
Joi is also going to have a few bouquets of my felt flowers and button flowers in her booth as well as some of my new cards. I had been using moo cards for a long time, and I love them, but I also got some postcard-sized cards from vistaprint. (Here’s the front, here’s the back. In case you care.) I have ordered lots of things from vistaprint before–address labels, announcements, rubber stamps, stationery–it’s a really cool company because they give the customer so much creative freedom with their order, yet it’s still an inexpensive and painless process.
