Life is good today. I’m working on a new bridal bouquet for a customer. Her colors are black, white, and green, and the flowers will be ruffled, lots of floaty tulle. Just a big, dreamy, frothy , soft bouquet. It’s going to be so awesome, but I’m not ready to post pictures yet.
I haven’t started working on my own bridal bouquet yet. I have had my boys’ boutonnieres done for a while, but I haven’t started the corsages, my lady attendant’s bouquet, or mine. It’s hard for me to commit to one design. But it’s safe to say that if I worked on button flowers for 8 hours a day until the day of my wedding, I just might get it all done.
Hope you have a great day. It’s gorgeous out.

Today was the prettiest day we’ve had for a long time. I think it might have hit 70 degrees. I didn’t get any sleep last night–I have been awake for about 38 hours–WHATEVER–and I have been really active all day. I threw a bunch of packages down the chute at the post office, bought some more floral wire, and did something actually kind of interesting.

Today was the Omaha City Council vote on whether or not to allow all-ages shows to be hosted in music venues that serve alcohol. (So if the venue serves booze, they wouldn’t be allowed to have anyone under 21 at a show.) I think the city council is hustlin backwards if they think they’re helping local business by advocating this, and Omaha has become such a hub for the national independent music scene that it would really screw up a lot of the success and reputation Omaha has developed.
So I went to the city council meeting today to watch the debate. The public hearings were over–so it was mostly just the council talking amongst themselves and asking questions of the owners of a local music venue, The Slowdown, which incidentally is where our wedding ceremony and reception will be. The ban on all-ages shows was not passed, so that means my side won. Sort of. Now underage concertgoers need a signed parental permission slip……………………….dont even get me started. BACK IN MY DAY. …
I also spent some time in downtown Omaha just walking around. Although it was warm, it was super windy today (like 50 mph?). Wrong day to wear a skirt.
Oh well. Congratulations to everyone who got to see my gigantic beige-colored underwear for free.
I bought an ice cream cone on my way to the city council meeting. What a cheerer upper.
Oh and look at that bouquet I made up there.
That is all.

I’ve been touring lots of houses and apartments in the last month, and I have compiled a list of the top ten things I want in my dream house.
1. a drinking fountain in the main hallway
2. his and hers sinks that are different heights. and a pedal-activated kitchen sink.
3. digital controls for temperature/pressure in shower
4. a good reading light over the toilet
5. unobstructed kitchen-to-patio grill path
6. roof-top patio
7. recirculating heated water
8. huge closets with a separate dressing area (oh wait, that’s called a bedroom).
9. option for “small flush” or “large flush” on toilets–water savings.
10. fully vaccuuming robot-accessible
I don’t ever really plan on building a house. I think I like laziness and dislike stress too much for that. Even the thought of renovating or adding on to an existing house makes my head spin. So if anyone lives in the house I just described and is looking to sell it to a jobless 21-year-old, let me know.
